Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O the One Wrapped in piety! (Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 half the night, or a little less 3 Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Indeed, the first part of night is heavier in tread, and more upright in speech. 6 During the day, you are preoccupied with many activities. 7 And remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with (exclusive) devotion. 8 (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say, and ignore them politely. 10 Leave it to Me to deal with the deniers, who live a life of comfort, and bear with them a little longer. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment - 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 BEHOLD, [O men,] We have sent unto you an apostle who shall bear witness to the truth before you, even as We sent an apostle unto Pharaoh: 15 In response Firaun disobeyed the Noble Messenger, so We seized him with a severe seizure. 16 If therefore you disbelieve, how will you guard yourselves against a day that shall make the children grey-headed? 17 And the heaven shall be split therein. His promise indeed must be fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
