And by the sun and its brightness; 1 and by the moon as it follows it, 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 And the night when it enshroudeth him, 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 Consider the human self, and how it is formed in accordance with what it is meant to be, 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 Prosperous is he who purifies it, 9 and truly lost is he who buries it [in darkness]. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 Then the messenger of God said to them, "This is God's she-camel. Let her drink." 13 But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground). 14 And He does not fear its coming behind (to take vengeance). 15
