The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 They shall send the She-camel as a trial for them; so watch thou them and keep patience. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Behold, We let loose upon them one single blast [of Our punishment,] and they became like the dried-up, crumbling twigs of a sheepfold. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 LOT'S PEOPLE [too] gave the lie to all [Our] warnings: 33 Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, 34 As favor from us. Thus do We reward he who is grateful. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 And at daybreak a determined punishment came upon them. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 40
