The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 (One) to be obeyed, and trustworthy; 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
