Believers, do not devour usury multiplied many times over. Fear God, so that you may prosper, 130 Save yourselves from the fire which is prepared for the unbelievers. 131 And obey Allah and the apostle, haply ye may be shewn mercy. 132 ۞ And vie one with another for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a paradise as wide as are the heavens and the earth, prepared for those who ward off (evil); 133 for those who spend, both in prosperity and adversity, who restrain their anger and are forgiving towards their fellow men -- God loves those who do good works. 134 These are the ones who, when they commit any indecency and wrong against themselves, instantly remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins - for who will forgive sins save Allah? - and who do not wilfully persist in the wrong they did. 135 their recompense is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing through them, where they will abide forever. How excellent will be the reward of those who do good works. 136 Systems have passed away before you. Do but travel in the land and see the nature of the consequence for those who did deny (the messengers). 137 This is a plain exposition for men, and a guidance and admonition for the Godfearing. 138 Be not, then, faint of heart, and grieve not: for you are bound to rise high if you are [truly] believers. 139 If a wound should touch you - there has already touched the [opposing] people a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people so that Allah may make evident those who believe and [may] take to Himself from among you martyrs - and Allah does not like the wrongdoers - 140 and so that Allah will examine those who believe and efface the unbelievers. 141 Did you think that you would enter Paradise even though Allah has not yet seen who among you strove hard in His way and remained steadfast? 142 You did indeed wish for death (Ash-Shahadah - martyrdom) before you met it. Now you have seen it openly with your own eyes. 143
