1/2 Hizb 33

۞ Before this We gave Abraham his guidance. We knew him well. 51 Recall what time he said unto his father and his people: what are these images to which ye are cleaving? 52 They said:"We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Certainly you have been, (both) you and your fathers, in manifest error. 54 They said: Have you brought to us the truth, or are you one of the triflers? 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 And [he added to himself.] "By God, I shall most certainly bring about the downfall of your idols as soon as you have turned your backs and gone away!" 57 So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question]. 58 (When the people came to the temple and saw the broken idols) they asked each other, "Who has done this to our gods? He certainly is an unjust person". 59 They said: "We heard a young man talking (against) them who is called Ibrahim (Abraham)." 60 They said: bring him then before the eyes of the people, haply they may bear witness. 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allah that which does not benefit you at all or harm you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon the things that ye worship besides Allah! Have ye no sense?".. 67 They said, “Burn him and help your Gods, if you want to.” 68 We said, “O fire, become cool and peaceful upon Ibrahim.” 69 And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 And We bestowed upon him Isaac and [Isaac's son] Jacob as an additional gift and caused all of them to be righteous men, 72 and made them leaders who would guide [others] in accordance with Our behest: for We inspired them [with a will] to do good works, and to be constant in prayer, and to dispense charity: and Us [alone] did they worship. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 And We admitted him to Our Mercy: for he was one of the Righteous. 75
