Have you seen the one who turned away 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Is with him the knowledge of the unseen so that he sees? 35 Has he not been made acquainted with what was written in the scriptures of Moses? 36 and of Abraham, who to his trust was true: 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 And that his endeavour shall be presently observed. 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 That to thy Lord is the final Goal; 42 that it is He who causes to laugh and causes to weep. 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 From a seed when lodged (in its place); 46 and on Him depends the life hereafter. 47 And that it is He (Allah) Who gives much or a little (or gives wealth and contentment), 48 And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); 49 It was He who totally destroyed the former 'Ad 50 And destroyed the tribe of Thamud, not sparing anyone? 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 and the Subverted City He also overthrew, 53 and then covered them from sight forever. 54 Then which of the Graces of your Lord (O man!) will you doubt. 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Judgment is drawing nearer. 57 No (soul) but Allah can lay it bare. 58 Do ye then wonder at this recital? 59 And laugh and not weep, 60 And you are lost in play! 61 [Nay,] but prostrate yourselves before God, and worship [Him alone]! ۩ 62
