The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 there is no denying its coming 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the mountains are crumbled, crumbled. 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from among the latter. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and serried acacias, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
