The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And made the night as clothing 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Requital corresponding. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
