The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Of the mighty Announcement, 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Except hot boiling water and hot pus discharged from the people of hell. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
