The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 What, when we are bones old and wasted?' 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 then he mustered 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Surely in that is a lesson for him who fears! 26
