The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
