The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
