And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 He fled to the overloaded ship. 140 He (agreed to) cast lots, and he was among the losers, 141 So the fish swallowed him while he did that for which he blamed himself 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 He would have indeed remained inside its belly (the fish) till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ but We cast him upon the wilderness, and he was sick, 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 And We had sent him to a hundred thousand: rather they exceeded. 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 So ask their opinion: “(Are you convinced) that your Lord should have daughters and you should have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?" 150 Behold, it is one of their fabrications that they say: 151 " Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you, how is it that you judge? 154 What, will you not remember? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Glory to Allah! (He is free) from the things they ascribe (to Him)! 159 Except His chosen creatures who do not. 160 But as for you, and that you worship, 161 You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 And there is none of us but has an assigned place, 164 we are the rangers, 165 And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah." 166 And surely they used to say: 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know! 170 Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers, 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 175 Then for Our punishment are they impatient? 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 Leave them alone for a while, 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be unto those sent (to warn). 181 And all praise to God, the Lord of all the worlds. 182
