Messengers! Eat of that which is good and do good deeds; I have knowledge of the things you do. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 Therefore leave them in their overwhelming ignorance till 54 Do they think that by all the wealth and offspring with which We provide them 55 We are busy lavishing on them all kinds of good? Nay, they do not perceive the reality of the matter. 56 Verily, [only] they who stand in reverent awe of their Sustainer, 57 and believe in His messages 58 and who do not ascribe divinity to aught but their Sustainer, 59 Who give whatsoever they give (in His way), and their hearts tremble with fear that they have to go back to their Lord, 60 These hasten to good things and they are foremost in (attaining) them. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 But their hearts are covered with confusion over this, and they have [evil] deeds besides disbelief which they are doing, 63 But when We seize with the punishment those of them that live in ease, they groan. 64 "Put a stop to your groaning now! Surely no help shall be provided to you from Us. 65 My revelations were recited to you, but you turned your backs 66 behaving arrogantly, and making fun, and talking nonsense (about the Book in your nightly chats)." 67 Then have they not reflected over the Qur'an, or has there come to them that which had not come to their forefathers? 68 Or did you not recognize your Messenger and, thus, denied him (Muhammad) 69 Or do they say that there is madness in him? Nay, he has brought them the Truth and it is the Truth that most of them disdain. 70 And had the Truth followed their desires, then indeed the heavens and the earth and all those who are in them would be destroyed; in fact We brought to them a thing in which lay their repute, so they are turned away from their own repute. 71 Or dost thou ask them for tribute? Yet the tribute of thy Lord is better, and He is the best of providers. 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ And though We have mercy on them We may remove whatsoever of hurt is with them, surely they would persist in their exorbitance, wandering perplexed. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 So that when at last We open up the gate of severe punishment on them they will be overwhelmed with despair. 77
