He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
