He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fears (Allah), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
