The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 Many of them will be from the ancient people 13 and a few from later times. 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 reclining upon them, facing one another [in love]. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Wherefrom they will get neither any aching of the head, nor any intoxication. 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have indeed developed these women with an excellent development. 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
