The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ (Long) before them the nation of Noah belied. They belied Our worshiper saying: 'Mad' and he was reprimanded. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 And We made the earth break forth with springs; so that the water met for an affair already decreed. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 and it floated under Our eyes: a recompense for him who had been rejected with ingratitude. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How was then My punishment and My commination! 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 Ad treated (the truth) as a lie, so how (great) was My punishment and My warning! 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 22
