But none believed in Moses except some children of his people, because of the fear of Pharaoh and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and certainly Pharaoh was mighty on the earth and one who transgressed all bounds. 83 Moses said: 'O my nation, if you believe in Allah, put your trust in Him, if you have surrendered (Muslims)' 84 So they said: On Allah we rely: O our Lord! make us not subject to the persecution of the unjust people: 85 and deliver us, through Your mercy, from the unbelievers.' 86 And We revealed to Musa and his brother, saying: Take for your people houses to abide in Egypt and make your houses places of worship and keep up prayer and give good news to the believers. 87 Moses prayed, "Our Lord, You have bestowed upon Pharaoh and his nobles pomp and wealth in the present life, whereby they lead people astray from Your path. Our Lord, destroy their riches and harden their hearts, so that they shall not believe until they are faced with grievous punishment." 88 He said: Your prayer is heard. Do ye twain keep to the straight path, and follow not the road of those who have no knowledge. 89 ۞ And We brought the Children of Israel over the sea; and Pharaoh and his hosts followed them insolently and impetuously till, when the drowning overtook him, he said, 'I believe that there is no god but He in whom the Children of Israel believe; I am of those that surrender.' 90 "Only now? When you had always been a rebel, and a wrongdoer. 91 So this day We shall deliver your (dead) body (out from the sea) that you may be a sign to those who come after you! And verily, many among mankind are heedless of Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 92
