Al-Waaqe'ah 3 of 3
۞ So I swear by the setting places of the stars. 75 and that is a mighty oath, if you but knew 76 it is indeed a Glorious Koran, 77 In a Book Hidden. 78 Only they can reach it who are clean (of mind). 79 It has been revealed by the Lord of all the worlds. 80 Do you then hold this announcement in contempt? 81 And make denial thereof your livelihood? 82 So why was it not, when the soul reaches up to the throat, – 83 the while you are [helplessly] looking on 84 But We (i.e. Our angels who take the soul) are nearer to him than you, but you see not, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 27, Page 209] 85 Then why is it not-- if you are not held under authority-- 86 can you not cause that [ebbing life] to return - if what you claim is true? 87 If he is among the near 88 Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure. 89 And if he be of the fellows on the right hand, 90 Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right." 91 But if he be of them that cried lies, and went astray, 92 Then his reception is the hot boiling water. 93 And burning in Hellfire 94 Lo! this is certain truth. 95 Therefor (O Muhammad) praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous. 96

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
