The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 There is no doubt that this book is a guide for the pious; 2 Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them, 3 who have faith in what has been revealed to you and others before you and have strong faith in the life hereafter. 4 These depend on guidance from their Lord. These are the successful. 5 Verily those who have disbelieved, it is equal to them whether thou warnest them or warnest them not; they will not believe. 6 God has sealed their hearts and ears, and veiled their eyes. For them is great deprivation. 7
