The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
