And whatever calamity befalls you, is because of what your hands have earned – and there is a great deal He pardons! 30 Ye cannot escape in the earth, for beside Allah ye have no protecting friend nor any helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships sailing on the sea, like hills. 32 If He willed, He could still the wind, and they would remain motionless on its surface. Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful. 33 Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 Whatever thing you have been given is the enjoyment of the present life; but what is with God is better and more enduring for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 And those who avoid heinous sins and indecencies, and when they are wroth forgive. 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 and who, whenever tyranny afflicts them, defend themselves. 39 The recompense for evil will be equivalent to the deed. He who pardons (the evil done to him) and reforms himself, will receive his reward from God. God certainly does not love the unjust. 40 Those who successfully defend themselves after being wronged will not be questioned. 41 The blame is only against those who wrong people, and are wrongfully insolent in the earth, for them there is a painful punishment. 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
