The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And it is We who created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We sent down rain from water-laden clouds pouring in torrents 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
