The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What do they question each other about! 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
