[AND the tribe of] Ad gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do ye build a landmark on every high place to amuse yourselves? 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 And whenever you apply force become tyrannical. 130 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 131 fear Him who has aided you with all that you know -- 132 Hath aided you with cattle and sons. 133 gardens, and springs. 134 indeed, I fear for you the torment of an awful day." 135 They replied: "It is all the same for us whether you admonish us or not. 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 and we shall not be chastised.' 138 So they belied him, and We destroyed them. Verily! In this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
