And recite to them the news of Abraham. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They replied: "We worship idols and are devoted to them." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 "For they are enemies to me; not so the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And He Who shall cause me to die, and then shall quicken me. 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 and Paradise shall be brought forward to the cautious. 90 and Hell shall be revealed to the misguided, 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Besides Allah? Can they help you or yet help themselves? 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 And they will say, when they are quarrelling therein: 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 If only we could return and be among the believers!" 102 Surely, in that there is a sign, yet most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
