In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ There hath approached unto mankind their reckoning, while they in neglect are turning away. 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 diverted their hearts. The evildoers whisper one to another, 'Is this aught but a mortal like to yourselves? What, will you take to sorcery with your eyes open?' 3 He said: "My Lord knows well all that is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He is All-Hearing, All- Knowing." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 There did not believe before them any town which We destroyed, will they then believe? 6 We never sent (anyone) before you except men to whom We revealed to them. 'Ask the people of the Remembrance if you do not know' 7 We did not give them bodies that needed no food, nor were they to live forever. 8 Then We made good unto them the promise; so We delivered them and those whom We willed, and We destroyed the extravagant. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
