And whatever affliction befalls you, it is on account of what your hands have wrought, and (yet) He pardons most (of your faults). 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 And among His signs are the ships sailing on the sea, like hills. 32 if He so wills, He stills the wind, and then they lie motionless on the sea's surface - [and] herein, behold, there are messages indeed for all who are wholly patient in adversity and deeply grateful [to God]; 33 Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons. 34 He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). 35 That which you have been given is but the enjoyment of the present life. Better and more enduring is that which Allah has for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. 36 who eschew grave sins and shameful deeds, and whenever they are angry, forgive; 37 And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, 38 who, when a wrong is done to them, seek its redress. 39 The recompense for an evil is an evil like thereof, but whoever forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah. Verily, He likes not the Zalimun (oppressors, polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc.). 40 And whosoever vindicateth himself after wrong done to him; these! against them there is no way of blame. 41 The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress men and wrongly rebel in the earth, for such there will be a painful torment. 42 But surely he who bears patiently and is forgiving -- surely that is true constancy. 43
