Nay, by the Moon 32 And the night when it departs, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 A warning to mortals, 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 [Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 And we have been belying the Day of Requital. 46 Until the certainty (of death) had come upon us. 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Rather each one of them desires that he should be given open Books. 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 No, indeed, surely, this is a Reminder. 54 Let anyone who seeks guidance do so. 55 And they will not remember except that Allah wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness. 56
