He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
