The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and float [through space] with floating serene, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 It will only be a single blast, 13 to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself? 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 but he cried lies, and rebelled, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 and gathered his people together 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily, in this is an instructive admonition for whosoever fears Allah. 26
