And the eminent among his people who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter while We had given them luxury in the worldly life said, "This is not but a man like yourselves. He eats of that from which you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 "Does he promise that when ye die and become dust and bones, ye shall be brought forth (again)? 35 ۞ Away, away with that you are promised! 36 This is our only life. We live and will die but we will never be brought back to life again. 37 He is not but a man who has invented a lie about Allah, and we will not believe him." 38 He said, “My Lord! Help me as they deny me.” 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 So the punishment overtook them in justice, and We made them as rubbish; so away with the unjust people. 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 no nation outstrips its term, nor do they put it back. 43 Thereafter We sent Our apostles, successively. So oft as there came unto a community their apostle, they belied him, so We made them follow one another, and We made them bywords; so away with a people who believe not! 44 We then sent Moosa and his brother Haroon, with Our signs and a clear proof. 45 to the Pharaoh and his nobles. But they behaved proudly and thought themselves superior people. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they rejected them and became of those who were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Moosa the Book, that they may attain guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
