The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
