The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (one party), exalting (the other), 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A multitude of those of old 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and shade extended, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
