Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O thou enwrapped! 1 stand up to pray for much of the night. 2 Half of it,- or a little less, 3 or add a little), and chant the Koran very distinctly; 4 Behold, We shall cast upon you a Weighty Word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 Indeed during the day you have a long schedule of occupations. 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And have patience with what they say, and leave them with noble (dignity). 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire. 12 food that chokes and painful punishment 13 On the Day the earth and the mountains will convulse and the mountains will become a heap of sand pouring down. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 However, the Pharaoh disobeyed the Messenger and We seized him with a severe retribution. 16 If you, disbelieve, how will you be able to protect yourselves from the hardships of the day which would even turn children grey-headed? 17 The heaven will break apart therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
