Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Shocker (Al-Qaare'ah) before The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Yea, verily. We are Able to restore his very fingers! 4 Yet man is sceptical of what is right before him. 5 He asketh: when will the Day of Resurrection be? 6 But when the sight is dazed 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 on that Day man will ask, "Where can I escape?" 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Unto your Lord (Alone) will be the place of rest that Day. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 In fact man is a witness against himself, 14 Although he may put forth his pleas. 15 O dear Prophet (Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him), do not cause your tongue to move along with the Qur’an in order to learn it faster. 16 It's gathering and reciting is upon Us. 17 But when We have promulgated it, follow thou its recital (as promulgated): 18 Then upon Us is its clarification [to you]. 19 By no means! Verily ye love the Herein. 20 And leave (neglect) the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 and some faces will on that Day be gloomy, 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 And it is asked: "Is there any reciter of charms and amulets?" 27 And he (the dying person) will conclude that it was (the time) of departing (death); 28 and is enwrapped in the pangs of death 29 That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! 30
