The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We made above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 Requital corresponding. 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
