The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
