Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 For you (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) are in this city. 2 And [by] the father and that which was born [of him], 3 That We created man in toil and trouble. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And shown unto him the two highways? 10 Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba 11 And what do you know what that difficult steep is? 12 The freeing of a slave! 13 the giving of food upon the day of hunger 14 The orphan near in relationship, 15 Or some poor wretch in misery, 16 Then he is of those who believe and charge one another to show patience, and charge one another to show compassion. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right. 18 But those who disbelieved in Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), they are those on the Left Hand (the dwellers of Hell). 19 Over them will be fire closed in. 20
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
