And convey unto them the story of Abraham 69 When he said unto his father and his folk: What worship ye? 70 They said: We worship idols, and are ever devoted unto them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They said, “In fact we found our forefathers doing likewise.” 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 and what your grandfathers worshipped 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 He who gives me food and drink; 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 who makes me to die and then revives me, 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 and make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 "And let me not be in disgrace on the Day when (men) will be raised up;- 87 the Day when nothing will avail, neither wealth nor offspring, 88 But to him who comes to God with a tranquil heart." 89 And the Garden shall be brought nigh to the God-fearing. 90 "And to those straying in Evil, the Fire will be placed in full view; 91 And it will be said to them, “Where are those whom you used to worship?” 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 Thereupon they will be hurled into hell - they, as well as all [others] who had been lost in grievous error, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 They shall say while they contend therein: 96 By Allah, we have indeed been in an error manifest. 97 when we assigned to you a position equal to that of the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 Now we have no intercessors 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 “So if only were we to go back, in order to become Muslims!” 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
