The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And your garments purify! 4 And uncleanliness avoid 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 It will not be easy for those who deny the truth. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 Anon I shall afflict him with a fearful woe. 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 death seize him, how he determined! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is not but the word of a human being." 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned], 28 It shrivelleth the man. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed only angels to be masters of the Fire, and their number We have appointed only as a trial for the unbelievers, that those who were given the Book may have certainty, and that those who believe may increase in belief, and that those who were given the Book and those who believe may not be in-doubt, and that those in whose hearts there is sickness, and the unbelievers, may say, 'What did God intend by this as a similitude?' So God leads astray whomsoever He will, and He guides whomsoever He will; and none knows the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but a Reminder to mortals. 31
