Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 As for him who gave out his wealth (for Allah's sake) and abstained (from disobeying Him), 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 nor will his wealth profit him when he falls [into the pit]. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And indeed the Hereafter and this world both belong to Us. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 Which only the most wretched must endure, 15 who have rejected the (Truth) and have turned away from it. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
True are the words of God the Almighty.
