So they departed; until, when they embarked upon the ship, he made a hole in it. He said, 'What, hast thou made a hole in it so as to drown its passengers? Thou hast indeed done a grievous thing.' 71 He said, “Did I not say that you will never be able to patiently stay with me?” 72 Said [Moses]: "Take-me not to task for my having forgotten [myself,] and be not hard on me on account of what I have done!" 73 They continued on their journey until they met a young boy whom he killed. Moses said, "How could you murder an innocent soul? This is certainly a horrible act". 74 ۞ He replied: "Did I not tell thee that thou wilt never be able to have patience with me?" 75 He said: If I ask you about anything after this, keep me not in your company; indeed you shall have (then) found an excuse in my case. 76 So they went on until when they came to the people of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused to entertain them as guests. Then they found in it a wall which was on the point of falling, so he put it into a right state. (Musa) said: If you had pleased, you might certainly have taken a recompense for it. 77 He replied, "This is where we should depart from one another. I shall give an explanation to you for all that I have done for which you could not remain patient. 78 "As for the boat, it belonged to certain men in dire want: they plied on the water: I but wished to render it unserviceable, for there was after them a certain king who seized on every boat by force. 79 As for the youth, his parents were believers and we feared that he would trouble them by rebellion and denial of truth. 80 "So we desired that their Lord would give them in exchange (a son) better in purity (of conduct) and closer in affection. 81 And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure for them, and their father had been righteous. So your Lord intended that they reach maturity and extract their treasure, as a mercy from your Lord. And I did it not of my own accord. That is the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience." 82
