Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 Which the trustworthy Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] has brought down; 193 Upon your heart (O Muhammad SAW) that you may be (one) of the warners, 194 In the perspicuous Arabic tongue. 195 Truly, it is in the Books of the ancients. 196 Is it not a token for them that the doctors of the Children of Israel know it? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 Then will they say: "Can we be given respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 then there comes on them that they were promised, 206 It will profit them not that they enjoyed (this life)! 207 We never destroyed any habitation but that it had warners 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 And it behoves them not, and they have not the power to do (it). 211 Lo! verily they are banished from the hearing. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And warn your nearest relations, 214 and lower your wing to the believers who follow you. 215 but if they disobey thee, say: "I am free of responsibility for aught that you may do!" 216 And rely thou upon the Mighty, the Merciful. 217 Who watches you when you stand up. 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing. 220 Shall I inform you (O people!) upon whom the Shayatin (devils) descend? 221 They descend on every great accuser, extreme sinner. (The magicians) 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets - it is the seduced who follow them. 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 and that they [so often] say what they do not do [or feel]? 226 Except those who believe and do the right, and remember God a great deal, who retaliate only when they have been wronged. Yet the oppressors will now come to know through what reversals they will be overthrown! 227
