The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 No, the unbelievers only belie, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
