Noah called to Us, and We are the Best to answer. 75 We delivered him and his household from the great calamity; 76 And made his progeny survive, 77 and left for him among the later folk 78 Peace be with Noah among all men in the worlds. 79 Thus indeed do we reward those who do right. 80 Surely he was of Our believing servants. 81 We drowned all the others (besides Noah and his people). 82 ۞ And indeed Ibrahim is from his (Nooh’s) group. 83 He turned to his Lord with a sound heart 84 When he said unto his father and his folk: What is it that ye worship? 85 Would you serve false deities instead of God? 86 What is then your idea about the Lord of the worlds? 87 Then did he cast a glance at the Stars. 88 And he said: "Verily, I am sick (with plague. He did this trick to remain in their temple of idols to destroy them and not to accompany them to the pagan's feast)." 89 So they turned away from him, departing. 90 Then he went quietly to the (temple of the deities) and said: “What is the matter with you, why do you not eat? 91 What is the matter with you that you do not speak?" 92 Then he turned against them secretly, smiting them with the right hand. 93 whereupon people came to him running. 94 but he said, "How can you worship things you carve with your own hands, 95 and God created you and what you make?' 96 They said, "Build him a furnace, and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 But whereas they sought to do evil unto him, We [frustrated their designs, and thus] brought them low? 98 And he said: "I am going away to my Lord who will show me the way. 99 “My Lord! Give me a meritorious child.” 100 We gave him the good news that he would have a patient, forbearing son. 101 And [one day,] when [the child] had become old enough to share in his [father's] endeavours, the latter said: "O my dear son! I have seen in a dream that I should sacrifice thee: consider, then, what would be thy view!" [Ishmael] answered: "O my father! Do as thou art bidden: thou wilt find me, if God so wills, among those who are patient in adversity!" 102 But as soon as the two had surrendered themselves to [what they thought to be] the will of God, and [Abraham] had laid him down on his face, 103 And We called out to him, “O Ibrahim!” 104 thou hast confirmed the vision; even so We recompense the good-doers. 105 Most surely this is a manifest trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice (i.e. a ram); 107 And We left for him among the posterity: 108 Peace be with Abraham. 109 This is how We reward the virtuous. 110 Indeed, he was of Our believing servants. 111 And We gave him the glad tidings of Ishaq, a Herald of the Hidden, from among those who deserve Our proximity. 112 We blessed him and Ishaque (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves. 113
