The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 And by oath of the Inhabited House. 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And the swollen sea, 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 The day the sky will tremble, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 Who, ignoring the Reality, engage in pleasantries. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 Surely the God-fearing shall be in Gardens and bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
