Nay, by the Moon 32 By the receding night 33 And [by] the morning when it brightens, 34 surely (Hell) is one of the greatest Signs, 35 As a warning unto men, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 and will ask of the criminals, 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it], 45 and we denied the Day of Judgement 46 Till death overtook us. 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 like startled wild donkeys 50 Fleeing away from a lion. 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Nay, but they do not [believe in and hence, do not] fear the life to come. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 But they will not remember except as God wills: He is worthy to be feared, and He is worthy of forgiving 56
